DONALD IN LIGHT – WAX

I took this photograph of Donald in an old barn in Santa Fe, NM as the sun set.  The light is what has made New Mexico famous as the Land of Enchantment.  His gaze is centered on the setting sun. This art is painted in encaustic wax.  The wax is heated to 210 degrees.  Once the wax is melted, the different colors can be mixed like oil or acrylic and applied to the art with a brush.  Once cool, the art has a luminescent quality.
