Chicken Vermeer

Chicken Vermeer is based on a photograph of a chicken in a cardboard box that I took at a friend’s home in Hawaii. This chicken loved to lay her eggs in a cardboard box that was purchased from Costco. The box was used to ship “boneless, skinless chicken thighs, all natural, ready to cook”. My friend has quite a sense of humor! Lots of her chickens used these boxes. The coloration of the cardboard behind her head lends the image a Vermeer like quality. I loved capturing her feathers in thread. My friend has many roosters and lots of hens. The rooster is a proud papa for sure.
