Judy

I met Judy one day in the checkout line of a grocery store. I was immediately drawn to the stories that her countenance tells. Her wrinkles are many, but are also graceful. When she smiles, her face lights up with laugh lines. I used 37 different colors of thread in her face and hair, 56 colors in the art. I added strands of silk to delineate the movement of her hair. The intense free motion quilting of the grocery wares in the background was a challenge because the bottles and bags were out of focus. Judy’s grocery store closed soon after I met her and she is now a greeter at Wal-Mart, spreading happiness as she smiles all day!
