Cubana Ballerina

Cubana Ballerina is fiber art based on one of my photographs of a ballerina who dances for the Cuban Ballet.  I photographed several ballerinas in an old building in Havana, covered in graffiti.  She is dancing in the morning sun through an open window.  I love her grace and the flowing sheer draped over her leg.  I covered her totally in thread.  The background is free motion embroidery that allows the minute details of the graffiti art to be seen.
