This is a thread portrait based on a sketch by the famous painter Degas. Degas referred to himself as a realist painter. He began using Ballerinas in his art in the 1870’s. This is one of his sketches. Degas’ original art was charcoal and white pastel. I used several grades of gray, black and white in my art. I chose not to use thread in the background so that the threads stand on their own.
I believe I was able to capture Degas’ art in thread!
