Navajo Nation is based on a photograph of an elder and her daughter outside of the elder’s hogan in the Navajo nation. There are barrels of water there because their well is not working. This is one of the most intricate pieces of art that I have done. there are only three stitches in the right eye of the elder. The detail of the hands and jewelry were difficult to recreate in thread. The Pendleton blanket nearly did me in as I added different colors to the pattern. The art is covered in thread. I added a little free motion embroidery to the hogan. This was a wonderful project to undertake as I gave life tot these women in thread.
